City of Waterloo is inviting artists to submit a proposal to be featured in Waterloo Park from November 2021 to April 2022.

The goal of this pilot program is to animate Waterloo Park in the winter months and to engage the community in the park through thoughtful and engaging displays of art and temporary installations.
The pieces will be situated in the Eby Farmstead and will provide engagement in the off-season. All animals will be removed from the farmstead giving artists free reign to propose installations inside the animal enclosure areas.

Proposals can include, but are not limited to: shadow structures; outdoor photo installations; murals; yarn bombings; literary displays; temporary sculpture; outdoor textiles; fence art; storytelling installations; etc.

Fees and Budget

Up to five (5) artists will be selected as part of this open call. Selected artists will receive a fee of $2,000 (inclusive of artist fees, supplies, etc.) for their participation in the program. Additional resources like set-up support, tech support, or communication/engagement support can be requested. However, these resources are limited so please include details in your proposal.

Artists are free to pursue additional project funding or sponsorship to aid in the development, exhibition, and display of their proposal. Public recognition of any additional support/funding/sponsorship will be the responsibility of the artist and if recognition is required, artists must negotiate with City of Waterloo staff in advance of the installation.
