“5 TO 25” is a showcase of young artists between the ages of 5 and 25. It’s time to get that artwork off the kitchen fridge, Dad’s dresser, and out from your bedroom and into our Centre Gallery! The staff and instructors at the Arts Centre get to see amazing work from many young creatives who take part in our art camps and classes, but we want the rest of the community to see it too! Let’s show the people of Vernon all the fabulous artwork lurking in private collections and get these pieces out for public viewing.
The subject matter and the medium you choose to show is completely up to you. This means you can bring in artworks made of paper, clay, paint, print, metal, wood, recycled materials, glass, fibre, textiles, digital work, and so on.
We do have a few restrictions, such as the number of pieces you can bring in, and the size, so please read the ARTIST ENTRY FORM for details. This is the same form we use for all of our shows, but don’t let it intimidate you. It is meant to keep things fair, and to help you learn how to showcase your work properly. For instance, if you want to submit a painting, it needs to have a proper wire on the back so we can hang it safely on the wall. If you choose to list your work for sale, you will need to put a price tag or label on it so we can make sure you get paid.
Artists need to be members of the Arts Council of the North Okanagan (ACNO) to exhibit their work in this show. If you took out an individual or family membership through the Vernon Community Arts Centre, this means you are an ACNO Member. Not sure if your membership is up to date? Call the VCAC at 250-542-6243 or send an email to info@vernonarts.ca and we’ll help provide the answer. You do not need to apply in advance for this exhibit. Simply show up on the submission date with one or two pieces of art and make sure you have read and filled out the artist entry form.
