The scope of this moment has asked us as individuals and as community members to find new forms of resilience. And within our journeys, it’s these pivots and adaptations that have sculpted new avenues for discovery – within our understanding of self, of community, and of the worlds we belong to.

Scarborough Arts’ Annual Juried Exhibition 2021 asks the question, what does a breakthrough feel like? What intensities or obstacles have flourished into new wisdoms; new pathways forward? Your journey has brought you here, where is it taking you next?

For Scarborough Arts’ 36th Annual Juried Exhibition, visual artists, writers, and poets, are invited to submit works in painting, illustration, photography, sculpture, printmaking, video, installation, poetry, and short story, that respond to the theme and title of “New Depths.”

Scarborough Arts produces the Annual Juried Exhibition, yearly, as a showcase of visual artworks created by artists in response to a unique yearly theme. Pieces are selected by a panel of Jurors based upon a combination of quality, technical execution, conceptual strength, originality, and impact.

Our 36th Annual Juried Exhibition will take place in November 2021, date to be announced, at Cedar Ridge Creative Centre. This exhibition will be in person, and will involve visitors and artists abiding by regulations in accordance with Cedar Ridge, Scarborough Arts, and the City of Toronto COVID-19 safety protocols including: limited viewing times, restrictions on numbers of people entering the gallery, mask wearing, and social distancing. Selected winners will also get the opportunity to be featured in our 2021 online edition of the BIG ART BOOK.
