Workman Arts is pleased to announce a partnership with RARE Theatre for the production of We Are Here directed by Judith Thompson and presented at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health’s new auditorium in spring 2022.

We all have a story to tell. Are you ready to tell yours?

There is so much silence and stigma around mental health challenges. We invite you to help break that silence and share your truth with the world!

If you are eager to tell your story, and to work with a group of artists willing to explore and share theirs, in an environment of creativity, respect and safety, this project may be for you.

We Are Here is a theatre piece that will be created by Director and Playwright Judith Thompson in collaboration with eight artists with lived mental health experience, chosen from Workman Arts member artists and from artists who have received services from CAMH (Centre for Addiction and Mental Health). Lorene Stanwick will be the Assistant Director.

The performers will also research the history of CAMH and create monologues and scenes that speak to that history, both positive and negative.

Artists will be paid union rates, referencing the Canadian Actors Equity Association’s guide for workshop and production payments. Participating artists can be union or non-union.

  • Auditions are open to Workman Arts member artists and artists who have received services from CAMH,
  • All auditions will be held over zoom and hosted by Director Judith Thompson and Assistant Director Lorene Stanwick.
  • Auditions will be 15 minutes in length.
  • Please bring to your audition a precious object to tell Judith and Lorene more about it.
