Spur-Of-The-Moment-Shakespeare-Collective is reopening its ONCE MORE UNTO THE BREACH submission call!
At this time, we are excited to invite IBPOC artists to collaborate with us in sending a message of support to our health care community. In recognition of the extra labour placed upon IBPOC artists in this time, we are offering, for the first twelve (12) submissions, a $25 honorarium. This is based on an estimated hour-to-pay scale of $25/h. We have a limited amount of honorariums at this time based on the funds that we have available to offer. As we continue to learn and collaborate with more IBPOC artists, we will be finding ways to compensate more individuals for their work in the future. We look forward to meeting new collaborators and furthering these relationships in this journey.
To find out more about our decision to reopen the call, we invite you to visit our website. https://www.spurofthemomentshakespeare.com/unto-the-breach-2021
THE CALL
We are creating a video message of love and support through the inspiring speech from Act 3 Scene 1 of Henry V (Once more unto the breach, dear friends…) Once completed, it will be sent to our hospital partners, as well as made available on social media to better reach the wider health care professional community.
WHY
The impetus behind this is to show our gratitude and recognition of the hard work and sacrifices they are making, and as a sign of hope. We do not need anything fancy – no need to memorize it, just ensure that the camera and mic can see and hear you well. The tone we are striving for is as though you were sitting across from a health care worker and speaking directly to them.
HOW
Film yourself with a phone, camera, laptop – whatever you have and are comfortable with and recite the speech. We estimate this to be an hour’s worth of work.
Send your submission with the subject line UNTO THE BREACH to shakespur@gmail.com
MP4 format preferred.
Open to ACTRA
Due Date is 11:59 pm Tuesday June 15th.
Neurodiverse/invisibly disabled applicants who wish to self-identify/continue the conversation of accessibility and inclusion with the company can aim to submit by Monday June 14th at 11:59 pm. As an option, you can also include a short written introduction of yourself as an artist.
Please advise of any accommodations and we will work with you to meet your needs! As a small growing company, we are seeking to learn how we can build accommodations in our interactions with our community.
