DanceWorks invites proposals from dance film makers for the Moving Online series, running June – July 2021. Moving Online was launched in 2020 to share the creativity and inspiration of dance artists working in the digital realm.

DanceWorks is looking for short films that highlight the vibrancy of Canadian professional dance artists, whose films emerge from all dance forms and cultural practices. Films must be up to 10 minutes in length (maximum), produced after January 1, 2020 and available digitally. Applicants must have secured licensing and broadcast rights for online screening.

Artists whose films are selected will receive an honorarium of $500 CDN, and must sign a broadcast agreement with DanceWorks. The application deadline is Monday, May 31st at 11:59 PM PDT. Applicants must provide the following information:

Credits for the film and production

  • Name of artist/company
  • How to contact you (email, phone)
  • Brief description of the film, for example, themes explored (100 words maximum)
  • Short biographies of Director and Choreographer (50 words maximum)
  • Vimeo or YouTube link to the proposed work and password if required
