The City of Barrie invites submissions from artists for video or animated artwork for display over four weeks, February 18 to March 20, 2022.

Scope of Artwork
Hello Winter will celebrate Barrie as a winter city with free and accessible programming in February and March 2022. Enhanced programming featuring the central theme of “light” will brighten the winter season and inspire hope and resiliency as our community emerges from the pandemic. Hello Winter will include popular Barrie Winterfest programming – a winter tradition in the community and one of the premiere winter festivals in Ontario.

This year’s cultural program will feature up to 5 selected video or animated artworks responding to the theme of light that will be projected in windows throughout Barrie’s downtown.

Artist Fee
The selected artists will be compensated $1000 each for screening of the digital file. The City of Barrie will provide technical equipment in the form of computers, projectors, rear projection film, etc., as required.

Artist Selection Process
The selection process will be conducted by one member of the Barrie Public Art Committee, one representative from Barrie’s Downtown BIA, and one representative from the MacLaren Art Centre.

Eligibility
This call for video or animated artwork is open to local, regional and national artists with experience producing digital works for projection and public display.
