RE:DE(SIGN)
Temporary Public Art Signs at The Beachway
Deadline: Friday September 10, 2021
Budget: $500, 3-5 commissions available
The City of Burlington public art program is launching a temporary art project, RE:DE(SIGN) as part of the 2021 Culture Days. Running from September 24 – October 24, Culture Days is 4 weeks of arts and culture experiences indoors, outdoors and online.
The public art program is commissioning artists and writers to create temporary public art signs that will be installed along The Beachway multi-use path. In addition to commissioning 10 visual artists, the public art program will commission 3-5 writers to display their work. This project will provide trail users with a safe and accessible way to enjoy art and to learn more about the amazing creators in our community. Each artwork will be accompanied with a profile of the artist.
*This call is open to Burlington-based writers.
This includes, but is not limited to: poetry, short story, fiction, non-fiction, playwriting, etc. Writers are invited to submit a short piece of writing (250 words or less) to be considered for this project. Submissions may be from existing or newly created work. It may be a stand-alone piece such as a poem or an excerpt from a larger piece that fits with the Culture Days theme of RE:IMAGINE (see below for more details).
