All Newfoundland and Labrador artists and craftspeople are invited to submit works for the exhibition “TERRA INCOGNITA” running from August 17-22, 2021 at the Heritage Theatre in Woody Point, Newfoundland and Labrador, as part of the Writers at Woody Point festival.

Writers at Woody Point is a high-charged, annual festival of writing and music that plays to packed houses of festival-goers from around the province and the country. The 18th edition of Writers at Woody Point will roll with an in-person audience at the Woody Point Heritage Theatre, taking into account provincial health regulations and protocols.

The Art Exhibit Committee of Writers at Woody Point invites all Newfoundland and Labrador artists to submit works for a juried show on the theme: “Terra Incognita” – Unknown, Uncharted Territory. The theme for the 2021 Art Exhibit was developed by featured artist and art show cocurator Shawn McNeven. McNeven is a painter who works out of Cow Head, Newfoundland and Labrador.

“Terra Incognita” – unknown, uncharted territory

“The idea of terra incognita exerts a powerful lure.

What exists beyond?

What path will you take?

What will you discover?

My interests lie in exploration of obstructed areas, beneath surfaces, through atmospheric conditions. I follow my instinct, never knowing where it will take me. It has been an incredible journey! What is your terra incognita?”

Each accepted artist will have the opportunity to display one piece (or a small series of pieces) in any medium. Due to limited space and wiring, we cannot accommodate large sculptures nor film installations.
