Climate Art Web/Web d’Art Climatique (CAW-WAC) seeks to connect the artists, projects and organizations doing climate arts work from the four directions of Northern Turtle Island. With support from the Canada Council for the Arts, CAW-WAC is currently working to launch an online, open source climate art map that will connect climate artists as well as offer resources regarding the land on which we live.
Decolonization is a key commitment of this project; thus, in an attempt to address/redress dominant colonial borders and boundaries, the map attempts to conceptualize art-making in relation to land-based Indigenous knowledge and ecologically defined zones. This decolonized lens is helping us to find ground as we share artist information through the mapped database.
We would very much like to invite you to this gathering AND we would love to know about the climate art projects you are creating in order to include them on the Climate Art Map.
