Burnaby Village Museum (BVM) is celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2022 with exhibits, events and programming across the 10-acre living history site. As we reflect on what we’ve been and what we want to become, we are creating commemorative arches that will be on display throughout the anniversary year. These arches will serve as a visual timeline of our history and draw inspiration from our collection of objects, photographs, buildings and educational experiences.

We are seeking emerging artists from the next generation to create graphic artwork to be displayed on the arches. Artists selected for this direct commission will receive a listing of BVM’s key historical milestones, photographs and stories, and have the opportunities to visit the BVM site and artifact collection.

Selected artists will be expected to produce a design concept and participate in three rounds of review to ensure all specifications are met and digital art files are delivered by January 31, 2022. $4,000 will be paid per direct commission. Copyright will be mutually held by artist and City of Burnaby.
