Access and Inclusion Statement

The Arts Council of New Westminster aims to highlight musicians that feature a variety of musical styles from a wide range of artists from the Metro Vancouver region. The Summer Music Program aims to reflect both the cultural and artistic diversity of contemporary art and to serve as an educational forum for the citizens of New Westminster and surrounding communities. This program is open to applications from both established and emerging artists.

The Arts Council wishes to highlight how diverse our community is, and in order to break down any exclusionary barriers and create a platform for marginalized voices, artists on the LGBTQ spectrum, non-binary artists, artists of colour, Indigenous artists, and disabled artists, are strongly encouraged to submit.

Please Note: All returning artists must submit a new application this year in order to be considered, no exceptions.

Performances and other ACNW summer programming is dependant on the on-going status of the COVID-19 pandemic and the guidelines set by the British Columbia PHO.

Eligibility

  • To apply to this Call, you are not required to be a member of the Arts Council of New Westminster.
  • If SELECTED, you must become a current member of the Arts Council of New Westminster prior to your performance. (Details: https://artscouncilnewwest.org/membership/). Membership fees are $30 for an Individual Membership and $21 Student/Senior Membership.
  • Acts who have previous participated in this program are invited to apply, allowing a 2-year interim between applications. For clarity: Acts participating in the 2019 ACNW Summer Music Program are welcome to apply in 2021, but there must be a gap of at least one year between performances.

Each application will be independently evaluated by a jury of professional musicians and community members from within the New Westminster area. May 26 – Artist Call Opens
June 7 – Artist Call Closes
June 8-11 – Jury Selection Period
June 14 – Artists contacted
July 3 – First performances begin
