Sharon Zarita is a Kenyan arts administrator, socio-cultural entrepreneur and creative leader whose heart beats for social integration, self and economic advancement through the arts. Writing, crafting and storytelling are her go-to forms of artistic expression. Zarita holds a Postgraduate Certificate from Humber College, and was the first Black African graduate from the program since it began in 2000. She is currently the Operations Manager at Lakeshore Arts and the founder of Sekoya East Africa, an arts organization building professional capacity among emerging crafts and cultural artists in Kenya. She has also worked with various organizations in Toronto like Jamii Esplanade, Arts Etobicoke, Afghan Women’s Organization, CultureLink Settlement Services, Humber College as a craft facilitator, art juror, event panelist. Zarita enjoys knowledge-sharing and mentoring creatives on arts administrative practices to enable them efficiently actualize ideas and get maximum impact from projects. So it delights her to be a contributor at artsUNITE in this way.
